Established in 1997, Sathya Sai College is a K-12, non denominational school in which the NESA curriculum is integrated with the five human values of Love, Peace, Truth, Right Conduct and Non Violence.
Love as Thought is Truth
Love as action is Righteous Conduct
Love is selflessness, Selfishness is Lovelessness. Love gives and forgives, Selfishness gets and forgets
Love as feeling is Peace
Our boy Charlie started Year 7 at Sathya Sai Secondary College. Charlie did not enjoy primary school much and has always found school a challenge. Since starting secondary school at Sathya Sai, he has found a new level of motivation to learn and attend school. He loves the independence, the wonderful variety of teachers and the subjects that he is learning. He feels comfortable here to be himself without fear of judgement!
I quickly learnt that Sathya Sai is a school that has a simple message, one that is clearly understood by staff, students and parents. Not only does the school embody the 5 human values, but these are also all enacted upon. I had to pinch myself when I first walked into a class that were all actively engaged in silent sitting. Such a practice allowed me to truly be present when teaching, connected to the students and the space I was teaching in.
The teachers are clearly passionate about what they do, and it has always felt very gentle and nurturing, especially compared to other schools, some of which I worked in briefly as a Teacher’s Aide. Nothing came close to Sathya Sai and its values‐based education. I would tell people about my children’s school and how special it was including the values, mindfulness, silent sitting and yoga.
I feel incredibly grateful to be part of the Sathya Sai College community. One of the most remarkable aspects of working at this school is the committed and proactive team of staff members who genuinely enjoy working with young people. Every day, I see my colleagues go above and beyond, offering not only their professional expertise but also heartfelt care and attention to the students and to each other
“The 5 core values; peace, love, truth, non-violence and right-conduct are seamlessly integrated with each and every aspect of the NSW education curriculum and day to day school life. I have seen this in action when observing the way in which students and staff interact with each other, as well as out in the community.”
The most fulfilling aspect of my role continues to be those “lightbulb moments” when students grasp a new concept or make a connection beyond the textbooks. These moments remind me of the immense privilege and responsibility we have as educators to shape and nurture future generations.
Truth, Peace, Right Conduct, Love and Non-violence – the children are taught and encouraged to consider each of these values in their interaction with other students and staff members, as well as how the values relate to their school work, play and day to day interactions both inside and outside of school hours. The school values system is not simply something that is ‘said’ but something that is lived during their time at school.
“……. To be a part of a school that teaches and instils the values in which I view most important, that will scaffold the child throughout their life has been wonderful. Having such a deep impact on the character development of students is perhaps the most satisfying aspect of teaching at Sathya Sai College.”
On my son’s very first week of school I knew it was the right school for him and for us. He was bubbling with information that he had learnt, he made friends on the first day and has gone from strength to strength every term .His unique personality and insights have been welcomed and celebrated.
“……… This environment of warmth and respect, as well as the achievement and success, could not have been attained, I believe, without the teaching of our Five Human Values and ‘integral education’ which is at the heart of our school philosophy.
What drew me to Sathya Sai College is the genuine sense of care and kindness throughout the entire school community. The students are respectful, kind and make each day such a pleasure. It’s clear that the focus on values education isn’t just something that’s taught but lived every day by the students and shown in their kindness, empathy and resilience.
