Sathya Sai Education has its roots in the teachings of Sri Sathya Sai Baba. Very early in his life, Sri Sathya Sai Baba declared that his mission was to impress upon mankind the crucial importance of leading moral lives by the practice of universal human values: Truth, Righteousness, Peace, Love and Nonviolence. He says education should bring out human values. “To bring out” means to translate these values into action. Since then, he has remained a constant motivator and guide in the development of Sathya Sai Education
The most distinguishing feature of this educational system is its philosophy that helping students develop a good character is equal in importance to fostering the development of skills that will help them to earn a good living.
He says education is for life and not merely for eking out a livelihood. Revolutionary in concept and comprehensive in scope, Sathya Sai educational principles have become a lifelong learning and transformation process for children, men, and women in all parts of the world. His message to the students is: “The end of Education is character and Education without character is useless.”
Over the course of his life, he taught people the importance of turning within to find one’s divine self. He taught that within the heart of everyone exist basic universal human values that need to be drawn out and put into action in our lives, and thus transform us into true human beings.
Hence, the Human Values program of : Truth, Right Conduct, Peace, Love and Non-Violence aims to usher in this individual transformation before attempting to change the world. “Be the Change you would like to see in the world”.
Sai Baba portrays character as harmony in thought, word, and deed. He emphasizes that the end of education is character, and that the teacher must be a personal exemplar of good values. Sathya Sai Baba’s life was guided by truth and filled with love and compassion for others. Selfless service to humanity is a key message that he both taught and lived. His service was expressed through massive projects that bring the necessities of life to millions of people, in the fields of education, medical care, water, and social uplift.
There has been an emphasis on a system of Integration wherein ALL aspects of an individual are considered viz. the physical, mental, psychological, and spiritual. This is aimed at bringing forth a well-balanced human being who could strive for greater heights in academic and spiritual awareness.
This has been the governing principle of all endeavours at the college. At every step, big or small, the college is guided by the comprehensive educational philosophy of Sri Sathya Sai Baba who emphatically advocates: “Education should be for life; not for mere living”.
In this endeavour to impart human values from childhood, Sai Baba therefore created educational institutions, from elementary schools to universities, that are suffused with love and all the values. Reflecting upon these values and putting them into practice transforms the child’s consciousness to higher levels of awareness, known as the superconscious mind. The result of this transformation is the development of academic excellence along with the blossoming of love and compassion and good character
In order to make this ideal a reality, Sathya Sai Schools have been established in many countries around the world including Australia, Brazil, Canada, Fiji, Indonesia, India, Kenya, Mauritius, Nepal, Philippines, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, USA, United Kingdom and Zambia.
All Sathya Sai Schools are seats of excellence in spiritual, moral and academic education
“There is only One Religion, the religion of Love.
There is only One Language, the language of the Heart.
There is only One Caste, the caste of Humanity.
There is only One God, He is Omnipresent.”
